Letter by Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch Rosh Yeshiva of Telz in Lithuania, 1949 - rare!
Printed letter with the signature of the Ga'on Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch. The subject of the letter concerns finances and assistance to the patient. July 1949.
The Ga'on Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch (1895-1955), son of the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Leib Bloch. Served for 12 years as Rosh Yeshiva and Rosh Yeshiva at Telz Yeshivah in Lithuania, in his father's life (from 1928).
In the year 1939, the two heads of the yeshiva, Rabbi Bloch and Rabbi Katz, left for the United States via Siberia and Japan to try to save their wives and children, yeshiva students and their families who remained in Telz. When they arrived in the United States, they decided to establish a new yeshiva in the United States and established the "Telz Yeshivah" which established its seat in Cleveland, Ohio.
Until 1945, the details of the destruction and the terrible murder became unknown. Only after the war did it become clear that most of the rabbis and students of the yeshiva and their families were brutally murdered when the Germans conquered Lithuania. "Rebbes of Torah and Morality", part 2, p. 57
