Professor David Yellin (1941 - 1864), one of the founders of the Teachers' Union, a teacher and researcher, one of the founders of the Zichron Moshe neighborhood in Jerusalem, founded the Hebrew Language Committee, which later became the Hebrew Language Academy.
Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog (1888-1959) was the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the Land of Israel in 1936, and later of the State of Israel until his death. Before that, he was Chief Rabbi of Ireland Jewry. Recipient of the Israel Prize for Torah Literature in 1958.
