Rabi Elazar Cohen was born in 1791. He was son-in-law of the gaon Rabbi Yaakov of Lissa. He was ordained by his father-in-law and by Rabbi Akiva Eiger. He was Av Beit Din of Pultusk and Sochachov, and a chassid of the Admors of Peshischa, Kotzk, Gur and Sochachov. He authored Chiddushei Mahara"ch, Avot D'Rabi Elazar, Zecher Tzaddik Yesod Olam, Nachal Bechi, and more.
