Medal – Exculpation of Mendel Beilis

Medal struck in honor of the exculpation of Mendel Beilis. Eastern Europe, 1913. Obverse: portrait of Mendel Beilis and the Yiddish legend "Mendel Beilis". Reverse: "1913, 10 Marcheshvan 5674" and Beilis's name in Hebrew and Russian. Diameter: 22 mm. With suspension loop. In April 1911 Menachem Mendel Beilis was charged with the murder of a Ukrainian Christian boy named Andrei Yoshichinsky, with the intention of using his blood to make Matzah for Passover.
