Nascent Israeli Army training manual "The Rifle" 1942 3rd edition reprinted June 1948. The booklet is of a standard paperback type produced in 1948 by the "Training Division of the High Command", here this is booklet 3 of volume A of a training series called "Light Weapons Training": the cover gives the date of 14 May 1948 (Israel's independence date - prior to the establishment of the Israeli Army, when the Jewish military forces were still primarily the 'Haganah') although the printing time is given as June 1948 (when the IDF already came into being). The booklet has a thick paper cover and contains 64 pages, with many illustrations. Although David ('Mickey') Marcus wrote a military training manual of his own for the IDF based on his West Point education and experience it is very possible that these translations of British military training manuals were reprinted in line with Marcus' observation that the Israeli forces largely lacked even rudimentary military training: his manual was published after his death and the printed date here is from the same month as his death.
