Sifra with Exegeses by Rabbi Yaakov David Biderman. Warsaw, 1866

Sifra Torat Kohanim, with the R"sh of Sens' commentary and exegeses by the Mahari"d, compiled by Rabbi Yaakov David [Biderman] of Weishegrad. Warsaw, 1866. First edition.

Specifications: [1], 9, 116 leaves, 30 cm.

The R"sh of Sens' commentary was first published from a handwritten manuscript in the possession of Rabbi Yaakov David Biderman of Weishegrad, who prepared it for printing and wrote exegeses, notes, and references. The book was printed after his passing, as indicated in his will. The book's approbations include those by Rabbi Yeshayahu Muskat, and the Admor, the author of Chiddushei HaRim of Gur, and others.

Rabbi Yaakov David Biderman [1806-1863] was born in 1806 to his father Rabbi Yisrael Isser of Mezeritch, one of the greatest disciples of the "Yehudi HaKadosh" of Peshischa. R' Yaakov was a primary disciple of Rabbi Shlomo Leib of Lantashana, and frequented the Admor of Kotzk, who showed him great respect. He was the rabbi of Mezeritch, Koznitz, and Weishegrad, for which he was named. He passed away in 1863 and was buried in Warsaw. For more about him see: Alfasi, Encyclopedia L'Chassidut 2, 260.
