RENÉ OF ANJOU: (1409-1480) Also known as the Good King René. Duque of Anjou 1434-80 and King of Naples 1435-80. An extremely rare D.S., Rene, with flourish, one page, 16 x 13 vellum, St. Maximin, 18th January 1474, in old French. The King appoints his loyal counsellor and secretaire `Maître Pierre Le Roy dit Benjamin´, as his new vice-Chancelier, stating `..to help him to attend part of the expenses he will have to face because of the new title...we allow the grace of disposal from the incomes obtained with our seals..´ Small paper seal affixed to the front, bearing a Loraine cross. With a large coat of arms wax seal attached. In very fine condition. G to VG £2500-3500
