Seder Ha'Yom – Slavita 1793 – One of the First Books Printed by the Shapira Printing Press – Prepared for Printing by Rabbi Ya'akov Shimshon Av Beit Din of Zaslaw, the Son of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz
The book Seder Ha'Yom, a Kabbalistic commentary on the prayers of the year and Kabbalistic hanhagot, by Rabbi Moshe Ibn Machir, head of ayeshiva in Ein-Zeitun near Safed. Slavita 1793.
Printed at the printing press of Rabbi Moshe Shapira. Rabbi Moshe Shapira's name is explicitly mentioned by the Slavita printing press only from 1808 and onwards; yet, he was the founder of the printing house that belonged to him already in 1791.
The book was prepared for printing by Rabbi Ya'akov Shimshon Shapira, the son of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz and the brother of the printed Rabbi Moshe Shapira. Rabbi Ya'akov Shimshon Shapira was a rabbi in Zaslaw, which was one of the first twon whose residents joint the Hassidic movement. He he is cited by several Hassidic books.
At the end of the book, an approbation by Rabbi Aryeh Leib ben Rabbi Shalom Segal of Zbarizh.
On the title page of the book and on its leaves, various stamps of Rabbi Aharon Mendel Ha'Cohen Av Beit Din of Cairo.
100 leaves. Lacking copy (a complete copy has never been seen in auctions!). leaves 2,3 are missing. On leaf 74, it was printed: "Here is missing". The missing passages were completed by a typewritten leaf, which was bound between leaves 74 and 75 (the missing text was completed according to the Venice 1605 edition).
Condition: Good. Moth signs. The two last leaves are restored with no omission of text. The first group of leaves, including the title page, are detached from the book.
