La nostra tela trova un convincente riscontro attributivo se confrontata con la produzione di Looten ispirata a Van Ruisdael. In particolare “A Mountainous Landscape with Hunters”, opera firmata, esitata da Doyle a New York il 30.10.2019, oppure “A mountainous landscape with shepherds and huntsmen”, passato da Sotheby's Londra il 25 novembre 2015. Tali confronti, a nostro giudizio, ci permettono di affermare che l’opera è da inserirsi tra le opere migliori del maestro olandese. Jan Looten, annoverato nel 1643 ad Amesterdam, si stabilì a Londra nel 1665, ove praticò l’arte pittorica con subitanea approvazione da parte dei committenti. Non si hanno notizie sulla sua formazione giovanile: di certo, dalle sue opere con paesaggi boscosi traspare l’influenza di Cornelis Vroom e Jacob van Ruisdael. Quattro paesaggi di Jan Looten sono presenti nella Collezione Reale d'Inghilterra.

Our canvas finds a convincing attributive confirmation when compared with the production of Looten next to Van Ruisdael. In particular, "A Mountainous Landscape with Hunters", signed work, hesitated by Doyle in New York on 30.10.2019, or "A mountainous landscape with shepherds and huntsmen", passed by Sotheby's London on 25 November 2015. These comparisons, in our opinion , allow us to state that the work is to be included among the best works of the Dutch master.
