Letter with handwritten signature of the Admor Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo of Boyan, with a request for assistance for his well-known chassid Rabbi Ben Zion Rachman. New York 1965

Letter on official letterhead signed by the Admor Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo Friedman of Boyan. From Wednesday of the week of Vayera, 1965. Addressed to Rabbi Yisrael Polickman, a leader of the Wohalin Kollel. The letter was handwritten by the well-known secretary of the Admor, Rabbi Levi Zvi Freund. The letter reveals the Admor to be a fatherly figure caring for his chassid, the well-known Rabbi Ben Zion Rachman, rabbi of the Romema neighborhood in Jeruslaem and rabbi of the Ruzhin chassidim in Israel: “I hereby write to you with a request to help with all your strength our friend the vatik and chassid Mr. Ben Zion Rachman, who is attempting to get a job to serve in holiness, and it would be a great pleasure to me, and a mitzvah gedola for him because of the great troubles in which he finds himself, and all of his hopes lie in this position. My hope is that my request will be fulfilled and the merit of the mitzvah will be on you and on your family for good and blessing. With blessings”, followed by his full handwritten signature. 21.5x28cm. Creases, overall good condition.

The Admor Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo Friedman (1891-1971) was the son of the Admor Pachad Yitzhak, whom he succeeded as Admor of Boyan in New York. After the Shoah he was the main leader of Chassidus. He served as a member of the Council of Torah Sages in the US and president of the Agudas Admorim in the US.
