Letter filled with tochechot and mussar, handwritten and isgned by the Rahak Rabbi Mordechai Chaim of Slonim, “Rabbi Motil Slonimer”, leader of the Chassidic community of Slonim

Letter filled with rebukes and mussar on the behavior of bachurim in yeshiva, handwritten and signed by Rabbi Mordechai Chaim of Slonim, addressed to Rabbi Eliyahu Weiner. Content: Mussar regarding the behavior of bachurim in yeshiva (probably Ohr HaTorah). He tells Rabbi Eliyahu that he visited the yeshiva and said to them “if you want respect there will be respect and if you want Torah there will be Torah, but the respect will cease!” He signed the letter twice, in the body of the letter (“Mordechai Chaim, founder of the Ohr Torah yeshiva in Tiberias”)and on the back with a stamp (“Motil Slonim”). 20x13cm. Rabbi Mordechai Chaim Kastelnitz (1864-1954) was the grandson of the first Admor of Slonim. At age 8 he moved with his father to Israel and settled in Tzfat. In 1910 he moved to Tiberias, where he led the Chassidic Slonim community and founded the Ohr Torah yeshiva. He was known for his great asceticism and holiness. After the Shoah, in which the Admor was killed, the Slonim followers asked him to serve as Admor but he refused. In the end, in 1950 he agreed to lead them but required them not to call him Admor. When his book Maamar Mordechai was published, he required the printer to print at the beginning that he did not accept the title and that he should not be called Rabbi or Admor.
