Moreh derech leitfaden zur Barmizwah. A Guide for a Bar Mitzva, Berlin, 1907. First Edition
108 VII pages.
Guide for a Bar Mitzva by Rabbiner E. Borter, printed by Berlag von m. Boppelauer, Berlin 1908, first edition.
A work to provide a Bar Mitzva boy with the basic tenants of Judaism. In the book before us there is an interesting quasi-dictionary - Hebrew-German - of basic concepts of Judaism such as the names of the books of the Bible, Tefillin and its laws, prayers, excerpts from the prayer book, Hebrew and German. At the end are music notes of the tunes of the cantillation and for the blessings on the Haftarah, a calendar and more. The work before us served as a model for various books which were printed in later years in English in America, whose content was mainly copied from later editions of the book before us.
Before us is the first edition of the work. Rare, not in the National Library.
Original cloth covered cardboard binding, without a spine.
