Background: The Rav Dr. Yitzchak Zakel Bamberger was asked about a Jew entering an elevator on Sabbath and Jewish holidays. The opinion of the Rav of Bonyhad, the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Chaim Deutsch was to forbid for the fear that using the elevator increases its burn. Rabbi Bambarger thought that this was not true and appealed in this letter to his relative and friend "who is great in Torah and is famed for his knowledge and sharpness" Rabbi Yosef Halevi.

Rabbi Simcha Halevi Bamberger (1832-1897), the son of Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger Av Beis Din of Wurzburger. Av Beis Din of Fischach since 1856 and since 1882, Av Beis Din of Aschaffenburg. Author of "Sha'arei Simchah" (Pirta, 1861-1862), "Avodas Haleviyim" (Frankfurt, 1871), "Chinuch Lane'arim" (Worms, 1872), "Pekudas Haleviyim" (Worms, 1874), and "Zecher Simcha" Shut (Frankfurt 1925).

The Rav Dr. Yitzchak Zakel Bamberger (1863-1934) the son of Av Beis Din of Aschaffenburg Rabbi Simcha Halevi Bamberger and the grandson of Av Beis Din of Wurzburg Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger. His wife and cousin, Hendel Nanet, was the granddaughter of Rabbi Yaakov Etlinger author of 'Aroch Laner'. Since 1902, succeeded his uncle and father-in-law, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Bamberger, as Rav of the 28 Jewish communities of the Kissingen district and as Rav of the Neue Synagoge, whose building was completed that year. The Rav lived in Bad Kissingen, which was famed for its therapeutic springs, which many tourists visited. The Rav initiated charity enterprises to help the poor who came to the city and provide medical treatment for hundreds of sick children. The family house, "Adelaide Villa", was used a guesthouse by the Jews who visited the city. The Rav retired from his position in 1932 and passed away two years later. His wife and daughter were deported in 1942 via Wurzburg to the Izhbitza Ghetto and perished, presumably, in one of the nearby extermination camps. His grandson, the Posek and Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yehoshua Yeshaya Neuwirth authored the renowned Sefer "Shmiras Shabbas Kehilchata".
