Especially Rare Letter for Recovery Handwritten and Signed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe

"There is no basis for concern, as this type of treatment is done most often and is successful."

Especially rare letter for recovery from the Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch to his relative. He makes the effort to precede her name (twice) with the abbreviation "ש"ב" (indicating family relation) Mrs. Sheindel Mushka. Written on the first day of Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, 1969. Brooklyn, New York.

This important letter for recovery contains within it, in a wonderful way: A blessing, advice and a promise: At the beginning of the letter, the Rebbe writes a piece of advice more precious than gold (many times more so in our lowly generation when we have no prophets and this will continue until who-knows-when) how a person can know which medical treatment or procedure to choose. The Rebbe writes as follows, in his Divine inspiration: "To answer your question - go with the shared opinion of two expert doctors." This is followed by the Rebbe's clear determination-promise that the treatment will succeed! The Rebbe declares with certainty: "There is no basis for concern regarding what you wrote, as this type of treatment is done most often and is successful." And in the margins of his letter - the primary and most important part of the letter - an expert amulet from a rabbinic leader of the previous generation, in which the Rebbe orders his blessing in his own handwriting - "With a blessing for a complete recovery and good news, your relative, M. Schneerson."

We will point out that on the line with the date, instead of writing "א' דר"ח תמוז" as is customary, or using the abbreviation "אדר"ח תמוז", the date appears as אדר ח תמוז. While this could be an innocent typo, who knows what sacred intention could lie therein? It is worthwhile to emphasize that the month of Tammuz is when the Rayya"tz was born, and when the Rebbe passed away, may their great merit protect us.

The Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994], seventh in the dynasty of the Admo"rs of Lubavitch, started serving as Admo"r in 1951 and continued until his passing. He was a tremendous gaon in all aspects of the Torah. His net was - and still is - cast across the entire world.

During his lifetime, the Rebbe was known as a supernatural salvation-worker and he enacted miracles like the ancients, which was very common among true rabbinic leaders over the generation across various factions - The unusual thing about the Lubavitcher Rebbe was that also after his passing - so say his Chassidim - his printed letters continue - and all the more so his manuscripts - to enact miracles, no less, and possibly even more - than during his lifetime, as Chaza"l say (Chulin 7b) "Tzaddikim are greater after their passing than in their lifetimes"!

[1] leaf bluish paper, 30 cm. Typewritten on an aerogram with the Rebbe's letterhead. With the addition of four words handwritten by the Rebbe, and concluding with his signature.

Fine condition: Fold marks. Aging stains. Tiny perforation in the fold.
