A question and a halachic discussion regarding a Jew who married a gentile in a non-Jewish ceremony and later she converted, whether they have to wait three months when he re-marries her according to Jewish law. The question is addressed with the question "our Rabbi will teach us" to the Rishon L'Zion Rabbi Yaakov Shaul Elyashar author of the "Yissa Beracha".
It seems that the letter is in the handwriting of Rabbi Avraham Ever Hirshowitz, in regular oriental writing (Rashi script). It is well-known that many Ashkenzai Rabbis who corresponded with Sephardi Rabbis wrote in this script and not in Ashkenazi script.
The letter begins with expansive praise of the Rishon L'Zion: "To the great Rabbi and Gaon the light of the Diaspora the western flame who is also famous across the seas…". At the end of the letter: "His servant and student Avraham Ever son of Shmuel Shlomo Hirshowitz".

Rabbi Avraham Ever Hirshowitz (1840-1925), served as Rabbi and "Dayan for the Shomrei Emunim congregation in the Chevrat Torah synagogue" in Australia from the year 1890. He fought the the Torah's battles and was responsible for all of the communal matters in Australia, despite the community's spiritual decline, due to which he even considered leaving Australia and going to live among observant Jews. Indeed, in 1894 he moved to serve as Dayan in New York, and in 1922 immigrated to Jerusalem. He wrote the two-part responsa "Beit Avraham" (Jerusalem, 1908-1923) and the book "Beit Midrash Shmuel" (Jerusalem, 1905).

The letter before us reflects the low spiritual level of the Australian community.
A folded leaf written on 2.5 pages. Size of each page is 21 cm.
Condition: Good general condition. Wear and blemishes under the fold.
