The book "Ma'aseh Roke'ach" is a large, comprehensive commentary on Maimonides' "Mishne Torah", whose sections were was published in different periods: Section A – Venice, Venice – 1744. Sections B and C – Livorno, 1862-1863. Section D – Tel Aviv, 1964.

The author, Rabbi Mas'ud Rakach (1690-1768) was the disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak Ha'Cohen Rappaport, author of "Batei Kehuna" in Izmir. He immigrated to Jerusalem in 1729. He was sent as a rabbinical emissary (Shadar) to Italy and then to Tripoli. He was asked by the community there to remain with them as a chief rabbi and Av Beit Din.
