Tchelet Mordechai – fifteen articles on various topics from the Babylonian Talmud. Vilna, 1889. Single edition.
The articles are full of rare genius and sharpness.
By Rabbi Mordechai Meltzer (1797-1883), one of the great Rabbis of his generation. Served for 30 years as a lecturer in the city of Vilna, Av Beit Din of the congregation of Kalvarija, and at the end of his life as Av Beit Din of the congregation of Lida. He was involved in the incident regarding the right to publish the Vilna Talmud (in 1862), and his approbation for the printing appears at the beginning of the tractates which were printed in that edition. He only wrote approbations to a very small number of books, due to his opposition to the publishing of many books which are not practical, but when the "Chafetz Chaim" came to him before publishing his book the "Mishneh Berurah", he agreed to give his approbation to this great Rabbi.

The book has two title pages.
Something unique appears at the beginning of the book: "The tombstone of Rabbi Mordechai" – the long and interesting wording of the author's tombstone, vowelized and in clear letters, printed over a whole page. Among other things is written: "In the writings most of his novaelle remained, lest his greatness be seen".

Long and interesting introductions from the author's son, Rabbi Asher Yitzchak, and an introduction from the Rabbi who transcribed and arranged it, Rabbi Abba Yosef Trivesh. In these introductions are the author's biography, and amazing stories about his greatness in Torah and his great diligence. Among other things, his acquaintance and relationship with his friend Rabbi Yisrael Salanter is related.
After the introductions is a special poem, "Awaken those who have fallen asleep", apparently by the publisher.
Following it is "The History of the Author", which relates his studies in the Volozhin Yeshiva under Rabbi Chaim, and more about his relationship with Rabbi Yisrael Salnter.
This is followed by another poem "Kol Anut Chalusha Mi'Shalosh Machanot Anusha!", a eulogy for the author which mentions events in his life and the cities of the Diaspora where he served as Rabbi.
Two additional introductions, followed by the work itself. The work is divided into fifteen articles on the tractates of the Talmud, and at the end of each of them are comments "Rimonei Tchelet" by the publisher, Rabbi Abba Yosef HaCohen Trivesh, Av Beit Din of a town in the Vilna vicinity and author of the book "Chevel Yosef".

Single edition. A limited facsimile edition was recently printed.
On the title page is an ownership stamp of Rabbi Asher Zev Werner, Av Beit Din of Tiberius.
82 leaves.
Condition: Excellent.
