Two English books dealing with Palestine and Syria, with high-quality illustrations, by artists William Purser and William Henry Bartlett. London, 19th century.
1. Syria, the Holy Land, Asia minor, illustrated in a series of views drawn from nature by William Purser and William Henry Bartlett, with description of the plates by John Carne, Esq. London, 1836-38. Three parts in two volumes. The two volumes include three illustrated title pages, two maps, and 117 high-quality engravings, on plates of heavy paper – views from Palestine and its surrounding regions. Two volumes, 27 cm. Good condition. Stains, mostly to second volume. Original leather bindings. Gilt edges.
