Ketubah Written on Parchment - Ancona, 1615 - The Most Ancient Ketubah that has Ever Been Seen in Auctions
Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom "Nissim son of Rabbi Yosef of Firmo", with the bride "Luna … daughter of the Chacham, Ne'im Zemirot Yisrael … Yitzchak N Schuin". The father of the bride was most likely a Paytan and prayer leader in Italy.
"The fourteenth day of Tishrei five thousand three hundred seventy six from the creation of the world which we count here in Ancona…".

Ink on parchment. The blank part of the document is written in Assyrian script, Italian-style, with the signatures of three witnesses: Yitzchak Franko, Ha'Tza'ir Chaim [Gedalya?], Moshe bar Shlomo Ha'Levi.
At the bottom of the Ketubah, Shtar Tena'im (Engagement Terms) (9 lines) in Italian handwriting, with the addition of the witnesses' signatures for the second time.
The frame is composed of verses and greetings for the bride and groom. Assyrian script in large letters: "Yiten Ha'Shem et Ha'Isha Ha'Ba'ah el Betecha Ke'Rachel U'Che'Leah…".

Condition: Very Good. Inkblots in several places; the complete Kertubah however is readable. Slight stains. Creases and folding marks. Two slight flaws at the center. The Ketubah is set in a nice frame.
A Ketubah from such an early period and in such condition is exceptional! Such a Ketubah has never been seen in auctions!
