Letter with Blessing "May Peace Be to You" – Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Yaakov Abuchatzeira of Morocco, the Abir Yaakov
Letter handwritten and signed by R. Yaakov Abuchatzeira, the Abir Yaakov of Morocco. Nine autograph lines with his signature, in cursive Sephardic script.
Letter in Judeo-Arabic, addressed to his close friend R. Yosef. The letter concludes with the blessing: "…may peace be to you – Yaakov Abuchatzeira".
Name of recipient on verso handwritten by R. Yaakov Abuchatzeira.
R. Yaakov Abuchatzeira – the Abir Yaakov (1806-1880), rabbi of Tafilalt, outstanding Torah scholar and kabbalist, leading halachic authority in his generation. Renowned as a wonder-worker. His sons and grandsons – Baba Sali, Baba Chaki, Baba Meir, and many others – were prominent rabbis and wonder-workers.
