Maalot HaTorah, by Rabbi Avraham, Brother of the Gaon of Vilna – Russia-Poland, 1828 – First Edition
Maalot HaTorah, praise and virtue of Torah and those who study it, by R. Avraham, brother of the Gaon of Vilna, with teachings from the Gaon of Vilna. [Russia-Poland, 1828]. First edition.
The book describes the virtue of studying Torah and of those who study it, based on numerous sayings of the sages found in the Talmud, midrash and Zohar, alongside teachings heard by the author from his brother the Gaon of Vilna.
The grandson of the author, in his preface, notes that the author instructed his family to complete the study of this book at least once a month. Over the years, this book was reprinted in many editions (see next item). In 1880, the book was printed in Jerusalem with the Or Torah commentary by R. Yitzchak Eizik Chaver, disciple of R. Menachem Mendel of Shklow.
