Pi Shnayim - A Booklet In Defence of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Friedman the Rebbe of Liske - The Controversy of Chassidim and Mitnagdim - Ungvar, 1885
"Two letters which shed clear light on the character of Rabbi Elazar Low who succeeded in his desire to stand on the heads of the holy people in the city of Ungvar, published by Tzofnat Pa'aneach". Ungvar, circa. 1885.
The booklet was printed by chassidim, as a reaction to the argument between the chassidim in Northern Hungary and Rabbi Elazar Low, who opposed the chassidim, in continuation of his father Rabbi Yirmiyah Low, who was known as a fierce opponent.
In the booklet is printed a letter which Rabbi Elazar Low wrote against the Rebbe Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Friedman, Av Beit Din of Liske, and Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch's response from Monday of Bamidbar 1862. Rabbi Elazar accuses Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of actions and words "against the Torah and its students, and against G-d and His messiah".
Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Friedman of Liske (1808-1874) was the founder of the Liske Chassidut. Thousands of chassdim flocked to him from all over Hungary and the neighboring countries for blessings and advice. After the death of his rabbi, Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum the author of "Yismach Moshe", the Liske Chassidut became the most well-known and important chassidut in Hungary.
