Cloth items from the bequest of Dr Oscar Netter

Oscar Netter (1878 – 1937) was born in Mannheim, learnt Philosophy and Law and worked as a lawyer in Karlsruhe and in Berlin. He specialized in law dealing with companies who trade in the stock market.
He emigrated to Israel with his wife Liova in the year 1935. After his death his books were donated to the Tel Aviv public library.
The items are typical of German society. As was then accepted, the initials of the first name and surname were embroidered on personal items.
a. A bag made from natural linen cloth, embroidered in shades of brown and green. Size: 13*12 cm.

One side: a monogram of the letters N.O. Second side: embroidery of a figure going to hunt butterflies. Lining made of brown cotton cloth.

b. A silk handkerchief printed with a pattern of squares. The border is azure embroidery. A monogram of the letters N.O
c. A case, probably for glasses, made of linen. Size: 29*23 cm. A monogram of the letters O N. Embroidered in red and bordeaux with a decoration in red.
