Posen Family, Frankfurt – German Orthodoxy – interesting items – including a very late picture of Jews in Nazi Germany and a rare postcard
Before us we have assorted items which together build the mosaic of the life of the Posen family from Frankfurt. The Posen family was one of the important Orthodox families in Frankfurt. The patriarch of the family, Rabbi Yaakov Posen served as the Dayan of the city.
a. 7 postcards – 1930's.
Assorted postcards which were sent by the various members of the Posen family in Tel Aviv and in Frankfurt.
One interesting postcard with a drawing of Nachmanadies. The artist, whose signature is printed on the postcard, is M. Kunshtat from the Kunschtat family, who are also known for their German Orthodoxy. A very rare postcard. Sent from the city of Hamburg by Josef Spinat who was killed in 1942 in Theresienstadt.
Amongst the other interesting postcards, a postcard with a picture of Herzl when he was young, postcards with pictures from the land of Israel – such as Zichron Ya'acov, Tiberias, Jerusalem and more.
Most of the postcards have postage stamps and the stamp of the Post Office, and contain mutual good wishes in German or in Hebrew.
Condition: Very good.
b. 7 different pictures of the members of the family.
A photograph of the two daughters of Katy Posen, with the date: Munich 1944. Along with this photograph there is another photograph of another, unidentified woman, who is connected to the family. These are late photographs of Jews who were still in their place in Germany at that time.
A photograph of the son of Rabbi Ya'acov Posen (the Dayan of the Frankfurt community) in Red Cross uniform, from the time of the First World War.
A family photograph of four members of the Posen family. The names of those photographed are written on the back of the photograph in German.
Various group photographs in which one or more of the Posen family are present.
c. An application form for the University of Heidelberg.

d. Annual report from Schiller school, Frankfurt region, 1913
The report contains details of the academic program according to classes and in every class according to subject, name and jobs of the teachers. At the end of the report there are incomplete lists of the teachers attendance and their wages, and also a statistical list of the students and their religious persuasion, as the Schiller school was a multi-religious school.

e. The envelope from Hamburg
Inside the envelope were nice postcards from Hamburg.
