Two Booklets of Jewish Postacrds – Publication of "Yehudiya" Warsaw – With Nice Dedications to Miss Rachel Meyuchas of Jerusalem by Yosef Yoel Rivlin of Jaffa in his handwriting – The Beginning of the 20th Century – Rare
Two complete booklets of 10 postcards each, published by the "Yehudiya" Publishing House in Warsaw. The postcards present a selection of pictures of the life of the Jewish town in the Diaspora drawn by Isidor Kaufman and additional Jewish artists.
The booklets were given as a present to Rachel Meyuchas in 1913 by Yosef Yoel Rivlin.
The Rivlin family was an important family in the old Yishuv in Jerusalem, descendants of the Aliya of the students Hagra.
In later years, Yosef Yoel was known as a professor in the Hebrew University and one of the greatest experts in Middle Eastern affairs. He is the father of President Reuben Rivlin.
Rivlin's name is erased from the booklets; yet, it can be identified through the erasure. The style of the dedication indicates a strong relationship, which faded when Rachel married the famous Dr. Arye Feigbaum and Rivlin married his wife. The dedication is in gentle, noble and literary language.
Rachel Meyuchas was the daughter of Reb Yosef Meyuchas, a public activist in Jerusalem of those days, the son-in-law of Rabbi Michl Pines and brother-in-law of David Yelin.
Condition: Very Good. In one of the booklets, the cover is detached (but can be easily glued back)
