Rare: Sefer Yuchasin, Krakow 1580-1581. First Edition with Rema’s Additions. An Impressive copy.

An impressive, complete copy of Sefer Yuchasin – second edition, although the very first edition to include Rema's annotations. Sefer Yuchasin was written by 16th century philosopher and Rabbi Avraham Zacuto, and contains chronicles and genealogical records from the time of creation until the time of the author, circa 1500. This work was first published in Constantinople in 1566, almost a half a century after the author’s death. The first Constantinople edition contained a special entry regarding the discovery of the Zohar, however it was omitted from all subsequent editions (including this one) due to various controversies which arose following its publication.

This copy contains additional text on verso of pp. 7, which is very rare. Rosenfeld’s “Bibliography of The Hebrew Book” notes that in most copies this side is either completely blank and in some instances covered up.

In overall very good condition. Some occasional light stains; a small abrasion to text on pp. 133, affecting one letter of text. Bound in an ornate, new hand-tooled leather binding.

168 pp.

Vinograd, Cracow 63.
