Sefer Yossifon - Zhitomir Edition, 1850.

A complete copy of Sefer Yossifon printed by the Shapiro brothers in Zhitomir, 1850. This edition was printed in partnership with all three brothers, including Aryeh Leib Shapiro. Aryeh Leib eventually broke away and printed independently from the remaining two brothers.

Sefer Yossifon is a chronicle of Jewish history from Adam to the age of Titus. It is named after its supposed author, Josephus Flavius, though it was actually composed in the 10th century in South Italy. It first appeared in print at Mantua in 1476.

An extremely rare pocket-sized edition. In overall good condition; moderate worming to several initial leaves, at times affecting few letters of text. Otherwise very good. Paper foxed and slightly browned; margins trimmed.
