Classic: Sefer HaRokeach, Cremona 1557.
A complete copy of Sefer HaRokeach, written by R. Eliezer ben Yehuda of Worms. An ethical and Halachik work, perhaps the most popular and influential work authored by ‘Chasidei Ashkenaz’ in 13th century Germany.
First printed in Fano, 1505 (famously identified as the very first Hebrew book printed with a title page), this important third edition aims to correct numerous errors found in the Fano edition. Seen on pp. [2] is sharp criticism by printer Vincenzo Conti of his predecessor from Fano, alleging that “at times entire lines were omitted”, thereby causing serious confusion to one studying this work.
In good condition. Small tear seen on left portion of title page, with no loss of text. Title page reinforced with paper on verso. Marginal repairs to final 3 leaves with loss of text to margins of final leaf. Otherwise very good. Bound in a new, ornate leather binding.
[4], 91 pp.
Vinograd, Cremona 14.
