מדליה ממלכתית, התשס"א 2001
אלי כהן נולד באלכסנדריה, מצרים ב-1924. הוא קיבל חינוך יהודי והשכלה כללית רחבה. כשמלאו לו 20 שנה, הצטרף לתנועה הציונית. לאחר מבצע "קדש" עלה עם משפחתו לישראל. ב-1954 נישא לנדיה ולזוג נולדו שלושה ילדים. אלי כהן התגייס למודיעין ב-1960. היעד שנקבע לו - דמשק.
