Ancient Japanese painting from the Meiji period (1891-1909)
Created at Maroyama-Shigou Art School, created by an unidentified artist (painter's name could be "政 擧 / Seikyo")
Some of the paintings in this sale contain red master stamps, painted on very thin paper (at least 100 years old and even older),
A very rare item
In this painting you can see a beautiful example of the Sumya style - a traditional Japanese painting based on black ink
Please note that this painting is at least 100 years old (!)
So it can contain minor imperfections such as holes, stains, wrinkles, disconnections between page sections (such a drawing is made from several small pages pasted)
Basically the item status is considered very good
Meiji 24 (1891) -Meiji 42 (1909)
signed
(Huge work in museum quality!)
Been folded for a long time
Will need minor restoration
Private Collection, London
