Ladino: Shelom Yerushalayim, the Time of Redemption Polemic - Single Edition and in the Author's Lifetime Offen, 1840

Sefer Shelom Yerushalayim, by the Gaon Rabbi yehuda ben Shlomo Chai Alkalai. The entire book is written in Ladino with Rashi script. The book defends what he had written in his book Darkei Noam - Ladino grammar rules. In his introduction there, he wrote that the time of redemption is 1840 and was ridiculed for it. This work is a response to that ridicule.

First and apparently single Edition and in the Author's Lifetime Offen, 1840. A lengthy introduction by the author. 10 pp. 102 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Ancient leather-covered wooden binding, blemished. Some moth damage and perforations. Stains. Good overall condition.

Blurred Sephardic signatures on the first page.
