Impressive Copy with an Original Binding" Akedat Yitzchak with Many Handwritten Glosses - Venice, 1573

Sefer Akedat Yitzchak on the Parashiyot of the Torah and at its end, a commentary on Megillat Ester. BY Rabbi Yitzchak Arama (1420-1494) known as Ba'al HaAkedah after this book, one of the sages of Spain during the expulsion. Rav and Rosh Yeshiva in Zamora in northern Spain and Rav of Tarragona in southern Catalonia.

Printed by Zuan de Gara - Venice, 1573. 290, 297-308; 12 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. On verso of the title page, a beautiful poem praising the author, titled: "כראות אחד ממשוררי הדור את יופי המלאכה ושלמותה... צלחה עליו רוח השיר בשבח מעלת המחבר...". On the last page, a vowelized poem by Rabbi Yosef ben Rabbi Yaakov of Padua.

The book is based on the Parashiyot of the Torah and is composed of a hundred and five chapter, each of the m divided into three. Throughout the book, Rabbeinu cites many Gedolei Yisrael who preceded him such as Rasag, Rabbi Yitzchak HaYisraeli. Ibn Gabirol, Rihal, Ibn Ezra and more. The book was accepted favorably by rabbis and Maggidim and had many editions, until it was said that "כל ספרי הדרשנים בדורות שלפנינו שותים ממימיו".

Leather-covered binding, original. A  large impressive volume with wide margins. Healthy, quality paper. Water stains. Some moth perforations. Good and rare overall condition for such a rare and important book.

Inside the book, many glosses in Italian script on the margins of the leaves. The glosses are mostly references to Gemores, Midrashim and other varied books such as Massoret Habrit Hagadol, Yeffe Toar, Shoresh Yishai and more, indicating their writers vast rabbinic knowledge. In addition, erasures in several places, of fear of the church.
