Yehonatan Gefen
An Israeli poet, playwright, author, songwriter, broadcaster, journalist, art critic, satirist and translator. Gefen was born and raised in Nahalal. Following his military service he moved to Tel-Aviv and started to publish his poems. With time he became part of the mythological group "Lul". In 1972 Gefen started, in addition to writing poems, to publish a weekly column in "Ma'ariv" supplement "Sofshavu'a" and to write songs which became very popular. Composed in 1974 a musical review by the name of "Ze Hakol Bayntaim", which was very successful. Gefen composed during the years seven additional performances in which he criticized society, the authorities and the government. His views, to the left wing of the political map, drew fire both from public figures and from the general public which claimed that Gefen is "not Jewish". Gefen retired from performances in 1989 and decided to focus on writing only. Published novels, plays and numerous children's books.
17 photos and 15 negatives in color of Yehonatan Gefen. Gefen is seen in most of the photos with other artists, next to him a pack of cigarettes "Red Marlboro" and a glass with an alcoholic beverage. Amongst the artists seen with Gefen: Shmulik Kraus, Gidi Gov, Shalom Hanoch, Churchill, Popik Arnon, Ruti Navon. A dozen negatives are for a poster (with Danny Litani) and in three of the negatives Gefen is seen reading a text in a Peace Convention.
