Land Canaan or the Promised Land. Prepared and edited by Juda Funkenstein. [London, 1873-1874. The map is dated "5633"]. Second edition.
Unusually large format map (meter x 1.3 meters), composed of several attached sheets. The map depicts Eretz Israel on both sides of the Jordan, delineating the journey of the Jews from Egypt to the Promised Land. Inset on the upper left corner - plan of Jerusalem and its surroundings. The title and explanatory text are printed in Yiddish, English, Hebrew and French. Place names are printed in English and French.
136X106.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, creases and fold lines. Tears (some open) to the margins and fold lines, professionally restored. Some restored tears, including restoration of text. Inscriptions in the upper right corner and the right margins (a stamp is pasted next to one of the inscriptions).
