Plate, Posen. Germany, early 20th century.
Silver (marked: Posen, 800, with crown and moon), cast, repoussé and engraved; gilt.
Decorative plate perched on four paws. Engraved in the center is the emblem of the Rothschild family, containing the Latin words "Concordia, Integritas, Industria" (harmony, integrity, industry). Engraved above and below the emblem is the Hebrew inscription
"Souvenir from Eretz Israel". The plate's edges are decorated with a repetitive pattern of griffons, altars, cornucopias, bouquets and ribbons. Inserted in original, specially designed wooden box laid with crimson velvet.
Diameter: 25 cm. Height: 3 cm. Box: 7X32.5X32.5 cm.
