A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN FACTORY CHARGER WITH NICHOLAS I CYPHER, CA. 1850

A large, vibrantly gilt and colored charger from the reign of Nicholas I. The rim is of a striking blue color with gilt trim and many gilt flowers and palmettes in and around it. At the center of the piece is an eight-petaled flower which has been intricately rendered in great detail. The verso of the piece shows at its center the cypher of Emperor Nicholas I in blue ink underglaze, alongside the mark 'X.' and a number '2'.

Imperial Russia - CA. 1850

D: 15 3/8 in., (39 cm.)

Condition: Charger appears to be in near perfect condition for the age and medium. No flakes, chips, or visible damage.
