An Excellent Carved Ivory Netsuke Depicting Daikoku and Hotei by KO-ICHI, Early Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Signed. Hotei and Daikoku are two of the seven gods of good fortune, who originated in Buddhism and were adopted in Japan. They were a favorite subject of many netsuke carvers. Hotei and Daikoku are often linked to prosperity, health and appear wrestling, playing or delivering gifts.

Condition: Very good condition with expected wear and mellow patina.
