Progenitor of the Bobov dynasty
Autographed Letter of Blessings by the Admor Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov. 1901

Autographed letter replete with blessings by the first Admor of Bobov Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam in honor of the marriage of his beloved disciple Rabbi Yitzchak Kupperman of Ushpitzin (later of Vienna). The letter includes blessings for longevity, righteous children, prosperity, nachas, health success and a good year complete with all blessings.

The Admor Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov (1847-1905) numbered among the great Admorim of east Galicia. The son of the Admor Rabbi Meir Nosson, third son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz who passed away at a young age, Rabbi Shlomo was orphaned tragically at the age of eight but was then raised by his grandfather the Divrei Chaim who invested his heart and soul to prime the child for greatness. The Divrei Chaim assigned his grandson the sacred task of compiling and preparing his myriads of teshuvos for print, and in 1864, appointed Rabbi Shlomo, who was just a lad of 17, to the position of Rav of Bukowsko. In 1880, Rabbi Shlomo relocated to Vizhnitz to serve as Rav, and in 1892, to Bobov where he founded the glorious Bobov dynasty.

Bobov, 1901. Page Size: 22x14 cm. Closing and signature by the holy hand of the Admor of Bobov. Tape marks on the verso of the letter.

This letter was not included in the collection of letters printed in Michtavei Kodesh compiled by Rabbi Shmaryahu Citronenbaum (Brooklyn, 1973)
