POW mail – Cover sent From Gaza to POW camp in Jerusalem. June 1949, Israel War of Independence
This Palestinian POW is receiving his mail from Egyptian occupied Gaza. It was postmarked there and mailed 16 June 1949 to a POW camp in Jerusalem, via the Red Cross. We see Egyptian and Israeli censor marks. The large red circular seal is from the Red Cross office in Tel Aviv.
The last prisoner exchanges took place in July.
