A letter to the Jewish Agency, a request to defer a loan. Kfar Brandeis (Hadera) 1929.
A letter from Yaakov Elazar Zeltzer, one of the first settlers of Pardes Hana.
30x21 cm. good condition.
Jacob Elazar Seltzer was born in 1893 in Transylvania. His wife, Masha, was also born there in 1895.
He was a religious Jew who believed that Zionism was the answer to the suffering of the Jews in the Diaspora. He studied and experienced beekeeping and intended to make a living as a beekeeper in the Land of Israel - the land of milk and honey. The family, father, mother and four daughters, immigrated to Israel in 1925. They settled in Hadera, where the father established an apiary as well as a small farm for the family's economy. Life was hard and full of hardships. The members of the family fell ill many times with malaria and eye infections. When one day a fire broke out and the beehive was destroyed.
