LE JUIF-ERRANT The Wandering Jew - French newspaper issue L'ECLIPSE – JOURNAL HEBDOMADAIRE, dated February 28, 1869. The title page features a large caricature of the Wandering Jew and the story of the Wandering Jew. From the early and rare cartoons of the Wandering Jew published in the 19th century.

LA RENTREE DE ROCAMBOLE, par GILL Reclame peu deguisee en faveur de la PETITE PRESSE Accompagnee de la Complainte sur l'air du .JUIF-ERRANT. In the center is depicted the figure of the old 'Wandering Jew' dressed as a worker sawing the trunk of a tree in the shape of an animal with a head and legs, from his mouth comes the words: QUEI PLAISIR D'ETRA A BONNE - "What pleasure is there in being good". Around appears the story of the Wandering Jew - one day in a town in Paris appeared a bearded man that "we had never seen before", the host invites him to sit but the Jew remains standing "I cannot sit", he says, as part of the decree placed upon him to wander forever, and the old Jew tells his story - "I have been wandering the world for the fifth time, everyone around me is dead and I am still alive...".
