רבי אברהם זיידה הלר [ה'תרנ"ד – ה'תש"ן 1894/1990] נינו של הגאון רבי שמואל העליר רבה של צפת במאה החמישית לאלף השישי. אביו רבי זאב ייסד את ישיבת חתם סופר ובשנת תרע"ט שתי הישיבות רידב"ז, וחתם סופר התאחדו ולאחר פטירת אביו רבי אברהם זיידה הלר נתמנה לעמוד בראשם. בתקופת מלחמת הקוממיות(העצמאות) לבקשת המטה האזורי של הפלמ"ח הורו הרב אברהם זיידה הלר והרב אפרים שרגא וינגוט לצאת לעבודות ביצורים במהלך השבת והחג. ביום לפני ערב פסח ה'תש"ח פרסם את פסיקתו בהודעה לציבור ויצא להשרות על הסובבים אמונה וביטחון, וכן לעודד את הלוחמים והתושבים המותשים. בספרו תיאור רבי אברהם זיידה: "בקשה זו שבאה אליי במפתיע, עוררה בי סערת נפש עזה ולבטים קשים; מימיי לא עמדתי בפני הצורך להכריע במהירות כה רבה בשאלה כבדת-משקל ורבת-אחריות כזו, אחריות הלכתית חמורה של רב בישראל, להורות ליהודים כי יעשו שבתם וחגם חול ולצאת לעבודה...".
