During World War II he lived in Moscow, Russia, where he worked as a model painter in a textile factory. After moving to Uzbekistan and from there to Siberia, where he worked laying railway tracks and drawing cartoons. After the war, he returned to Poland and discovered that his family had perished in the Holocaust. In the years 1949-1946, he lived in Milan, Italy, where he studied art. In 1949 he immigrated to Israel and lived in Migdal Ashkelon (now Ashkelon), where he worked as a painting teacher. In 1950 he was accepted as a member of the Painters' Association and in the 60s of the 20th century, he served as a member of the association's committee. In the 1950s he settled in Jaffa.
