Responsum from "MAHARAM SCHICK" to Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov Teitelbaum. 1878


A long Hallachic letter from Rabbi Moshe Schick, the "Maharam Schich", addressed to Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov Teitelbaum of Berbesht.


This is probably one of the last letters from the Maharam Schick, aound 2 months before his petirah. The letter is secretarial written, and signed by the Maharam Schick "MOSHE HAKATAN mi'BREZEVA. The Tshuva is printed  in his tshuvos Even HaEzer 5.

Rabbi Moshe Schick (1807-1879) great disciple of the Chatam Sofer, renowned rabbi of Chust and its rosh yeshivah, greatest adjudicator of Hungary, and leader of faithful Judaism in Hungary. Wrote novellae on Shas, a series of books of responsa, sermons and more.


Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov Yokel Teitelbaum: son of Reb Shmuel from Gorlitz [b. R' Eliezer Nissan from Drohobytz, son of the Yismach Moshe], Son-in-law of hus uncle the "Yeitav Lev" from Sighet. He served as Rav of Berbesht, and later in Volova, where he was succeeded by his son Reb Aharon. The Satmar Rebbe "Berach Moshe" was the son-in-law of Reb Aharon and grandson of Reb Yisroel Yaakov Yokel.
