Request of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneurshon of Lubavitch (Rabbi of Chabad) -

The reeds of the menorah in the temple came out of the middle barrel of the menorah [1] diagonally upwards.

Edge shape edit
On Shabbat Parshas Matot Masai 5742, the Rebbe devoted a very extensive explanation to clarifying how the menorahs were in the Temple, when the Rebbe clearly proves that the menorahs must have been diagonal, as Marshi means, and from Maimonides' painting discovered at that time, which he intentionally painted First the temple lamp when the reeds were diagonally. In the same conversation the Rebbe also clarified and excused all the difficulties in question.

Beyond the halakhic explanation of the reeds, as in the Rebbe's way, there were also immediate and practical implications for speaking. The Rebbe saw changing the paintings of the menorah as another step in disconnecting with Israel from the darkness of exile and enslavement.

The Rebbe connects the round lamps to exile and darkness, and mentions the humiliation and sorrow done to the Jews from that infamous Titus Gate. Here, too, it is clear how the Rebbe, on the eve of redemption, wants to ignite the wall of exile, and erase every trace of that terrible past of Titus.

The Rebbe wanted to paint the menorah of the Temple according to the pure halakhah when they buy diagonally. Beyond that, the Rebbe added that the menorahs that are made for the days of Hanukkah "should be bought diagonally" [2], and there is no fear of violating the ban on creating vessels similar to the temple lamp, because there are eight branches, plus the sun.
