'Noble Smelling Salts' - Hand painted enamel plaque on copper plate
Signed and bearing the name of the work: 'Sganarella' - the character is the character of Jean-Henri Gourgaud, known as Dugazon, who was a French theater actor belonging to the Comédie-Française. He was born in Marseilles on November 15, 1746 and died insane at Sandion near Orléans on October 10, 1809. Dugason played the character of Ségénéral who is a character from Moliere's Banquet of the Stone (Don Juan), Act I, Scene I, and he also played the character of Don Juan (Dom Juan Ou Le Festin de Pierre) in a comedy by Moliere.
