1. Polemic- Responsa Be'er Eshek, Halachic questions and answers by the esteemed sage Rabbi Shabtai Beer.

Only  Edition, Venice, 1674.

Antique signature and annotations.

Rabbi Shabtai Beer included a preface mentioning his mentors, the loss of his sons, and his desire to publish the sefer for consolation and to educate the public. He included a poetic debate between two entities, “the Good Name” and “the Good Grace.”

One famous response (Question 57) concerns “Gentile Wine” and whether leniency can be applied when a non-Jew merely crushed the grapes. This position sparked a significant controversy among Halachic authorities, with some suggesting that Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai (Chida) avoided mentioning him in his work Shem HaGedolim due to this dispute.

Rabbi Shabtai Moshe, son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Chaim Beer, was a student of Rabbi Yitzchak of Pano, son-in-law of Rabbi Menachem Azariah of Fano (Rama MiFano), and Rabbi Aharon Berechiah of Modena, author of Ma’avar Yabbok. He authored several works, with some manuscripts preserved in the National Library. He passed away abroad during a fundraising mission in 1673.
