19TH C ANTIQUE RUSSIAN JESUS CHRIST TRAVEL ICON IN SILVER RIZA
An antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting Jesus Christ in the Pantocrator iconography, known in Western Christianity as Christ in Majesty. The 19th century. The mixed media icon with egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood panel. The icon is overlaid with a Silver oklad or riza, adorned with engraved detailed patterns. Marked Cyrillic and Assay marks on the riza. The backside of the icon is covered with velvet. The icon has a ring for hanging. Russian Orthodox Religious Items and Collectibles. 11.4 g.
