ANTIQUE 19TH CENT RUSSIAN ICON ADORATION OF MAGI
An antique late 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon depicts the Adoration of the Magi, a scene from the Nativity of Christ where the three Magi, having found Jesus by following a star, lay before him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and worship him. Inscription Birth of Jesus in Church Slavonic above. Figures of an angel and Saint Anna are depicted on the borders. Decorative gilding. Collectible Christian Religious Items, Russian Icon Painting.
