ANTIQUE CHINESE QING ANCESTRAL PORTRAIT PAINTINGS
A pair of antique Chinese watercolor, gouache and pencil paintings on paper. Qing dynasty, early 19th century. The artworks are full-length portraits of two men on trones with servants, the clothes of the portrayed indicate their high status and belonging to the court circle. This type of painting is named ancestral painting. It was a common comission in the Qing era and was created in workshops as the result of collaboration among several artists. Brown fabric mat.
